"Thank you so much Bella. I'll be back in a moment." Shadow said before disappearing into a cloud of grey smoke. He returned a few minutes later his satchel full to burst. He had filled it with various water bottles and his entire medical kit. "I need to take care of this though it's probably already infected.“ Shadow said before beginning his work. He peeled off his jacket taking some skin with it. Shadow worked cleaning out the inside of the wound as well as all around it until the dust was no longer and the blood began flowing again on that spot of his torso. He began meticulously stitching his side up careful to rejoin everything correctly. When the wound was closed Shadow wrapped a long stretch of cloth around his torso and dragged a cot over by Kat so he could lie down. Blood still seeped through the stitches here and there though it was much less though that meant internal bleeding that would have to be fixed later as long as it didn't bloat him or burst.

Kat shifted slightly in her sleep, tail twitching closer to her just a bit, the fingers of her right hand twitching just a hair.

Shadow watched her every move deciding not to wake her as he hoped she wasn't having nightmares. Shewasnt mumbling or screaming to trying to protect herself so he deemed her safe for the time being. In her dreams of course.

Kazia entered the tent, seeming as though she knew what had happened. "Everything alright dears? Bella, I'd advise giving another blanket to Katia." She speaks, sounding concerned.

Shadow smiled at Kaz happy to see her. "I feel like I've been gone too long." He says quietly. "Would you mind coming to look at her? I just want to make sure I didn't miss anything..." Shadow continued.

"Sure dear~ I'll see if I find anything..." She replies softly, walking up to Katia, sniffing around before shifting the blanket that was over her to check her arms before moving to the half demons back. She ran a claw over the nails, the back of Kat's shirt having been torn for the changelings to add more.

Shadow bit his lip, fury filling him Like fire as he counted the nails. He ground his fangs, his face turning bright red. His eye shifted to a deep green, his anger faded, falling back in defeat. He rested his head in his hands, sitting perfectly still on the cot.

Kazia sighed. "I wish I knew a way to reverse this, I really do. Even just to safely break these links..." She spoke softly, pulling the blanket back over Katia gently. "If I'm not mistaken there were more nails than before?" She asksquietly.

"At least three more if I counted correctly." Shadow said through grit teeth. He and his hands through his hair trying to rid the mats atop his head.

The seer sighed. "Alright, I thought so..." she replied quietly.

"What will it do to her." Shadow asked his voice cracked and uneven.

"Same thing we've been fighting... Her death... Then her changeling's rise..." She replied quietly.

Shadow sighed. "How else would you break the links?" Shadow asked hesitantly. He had no intention of hurting her but if he could heal her he would.

"If I knew another way I'd tell you, but I honestly have no idea what to do when it comes to links and the like, dear..." Kazia spoke sadly.

"So we just sit around and wait for the changelings to take her over or for her death." Shadow whispered. He tucked a stray hair behind Katia's ear. "I'm sorry Kat. I dot know how to fix this one."

Kazia and Bella just watched in silence, both worried about the future of their friend.

Shadow sighed laying back and staring into the top of the tent. "I'd take you somewhere safe but that's not really around anymore is it." He said to no one in particular.

Katia's hand twitched again slightly as her eyes began to open slowly, colors dull hues of yellow, blue, and white.

Shadow sat up immediately taking her hand. "Katia..." he whispered smiling down at her. He knew she was far from ok but he was glad to see her awake. Shadow suddenly became aware of his appearance. Covered in dust, blood and a mixture of mud and the two. He tried to shake himself out pointlessly and just tried to smile.

"Sh-Shadow?" She questioned in a quiet whisper, eyes closing soon after they were opened partially, any light causing her pain.

"Yes love." He said quietly trying to contain his joy. "You're safe for now." He said his voice calm and soothing. Shadow smiled ear to ear, his fangs loose as his eye shifted to a light pink.
(*dies*)

Kat weakly held onto his hand, nodding slightly in reply using what strength she could muster. Bella grabbed another blanket for the half demon and gently set it over her, rememberung what Kazia had told her earlier.

"Do you need anything?" He asked eyeing one of his water bottles. "Say it and it's yours." He added with a smirk only partially joking.

"Could I have some water?" She asks, voice barely able to sound.

Shadow retrieved a bottle of water faster than she could blink still smiling though he seemed more relaxed. "Anything."
